Tile Pattern-Building

As I explore the intersection of pattern design and materiality, I find prefabricated commercial ceramic tile full of possibilities. When working on client projects ranging from backsplashes to floors, I create a master pattern from a 12 x 12 grid, incorporate color into the visual logic, and fabricate these 12” x 12” tiles. I then rotate and manipulate these squares to create non-repeating patterns that cover large surfaces.

A collection of abstract geometric patterns with grid squares featuring green initial patterns. Each pattern evolves from a smaller grid design into a larger intricate black design. The designs vary and include shapes like triangles, squares, and intricate line patterns, showcasing symmetry and repetition.
