In his exhibition Just Dust, Ari Norris presents a thought-provoking exploration of impermanence and materiality through sculptures that deliberately resist monumentality. The centerpiece, And This is the Moment, features a precarious, tumbling filing cabinet installation that evokes a sense of imminent collapse, playing with the scale and the viewer’s expectations. The show also includes four wall works that mimic dusty, apophenic styrofoam blocks, subtly referencing classical paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Norris’s work in Just Dust is a playful yet poignant commentary on the fleeting nature of material objects, the fragility of perception, and the way art interacts with time and space, embracing impermanence rather than eternity.
