David Salkin Creative Information, Contact, and Studio Location

ABOUT:

Trained in Architecture, Salkin's primary practice involves manipulating plans and grids to form patterns and images that are meant to be inhabited and read as prototypes for new urban formations –translating expansive urban patterns into the materials of domestic life. However, custom projects often consider the richness of the world to include a myriad of themes and patterns.

Salkin works with Nepalese master-weavers on bespoke hand-dyed and hand-knotted rugs in wool, silk, hemp, mohair and cactus. Other Surface-Design projects include Custom Commercial Rugs, Wall-coverings, Special Collaborations, Textile Development and Pattern Installations. Other design work includes Event Design, Space Planning, Graphic Design, Signage, Graphics Packages and Interior Branding.

The studio enjoys enriching collaborations with Architects, Interior Designers, Manufacturers and Artisans.

Personal interests include contemporary art collection and education, mid-century architecture, and tropical plants.

David Salkin Creative’s small studio hosts and curates a diverse exhibition program, focused on educational projects, and is located in a lively building of contemporary art galleries including Volume Gallery, Western Exhibitions, DOCUMENT, Paris London Hong Kong and Rhona Hoffman Gallery.
